InVest Success 12-2001 |

| Project InVEST helped me to obtain my first "office"
job at an insurance agency. The program educated me on how to properly
interview, and assisted me in learning the basic tools required to succeed
in an office environment. It gave me the direction I needed in high school to prosper
later in life. Through a written essay, I won a scholarship through the Project InVEST Scholarship Program. This scholarship helped me pay for some of my college tuition and books. Growing up in a single-parent home, money was tight and there was no funding for college. By winning scholarships from Project InVEST and Valencia Community College, I was able to obtain my two-year degree at a minimal cost. While attending college, I worked at the same insurance agency and focused on an accounting career. After graduating from Valencia Community College, I decided to move up from a clerical position into a customer service focused position in insurance. At this point, I realized that insurance utilized my analytical, mathematical, and customer service qualities. About four years ago, I obtained my agent's license and am now working with large commercial accounts in a terrific competitive insurance agency making a great salary. I would highly recommend Project InVEST, as I feel that Project InVEST was the root to this success and hope that everyone in high school gets to experience this program. |
